After a hearty breakfast there is no end to the numbers of photos you could take...just hoping my 8 gig memory card can store them all!
This day was particularly golden with sunflowers and sometimes wheat that seemed to go on until the horizon.
These little structures underground are called bodegas and are used for storing wine and cheese. They remind me of hobbit houses with the height of their doors about a meter and a bit.
I admit that it is not always picture post card perfect...sometimes there are long stretches alongside roads and highways...some busy and but others with little traffic.
The region of Castilla-Leon where I am now, is the largest of the autonomous regions in Spain and passing through 3 of its nine provinces...Burgos, Palencia and Leon, takes up about 50% of the time on this French route.
But soon you come across a quiet village and always a fountain in the main plaza where you can refill your water bottle....
and give your feet and shoulders a rest.
Usually within a few hundred meters you can find a beautiful church with requisite stork nest.....
And above all...let's not forget today's update....
Well this is an update of sorts....it was the last photo I had taken where the number of km to Santiago were shown....subtract about 40 km from the above number, putting it in about the 335 range.
Stay tuned....
Your photos are excellent and even humorous at times. You are an amazing storyteller! Hope you see this so you know I am enjoying your adventure along with you!!
